Sensor
KY-018 LDR Light Sensor
The KY-018 is a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) module whose resistance changes based on the amount of light hitting it. It's commonly used in beginner electronics projects to detect light levels and trigger actions based on brightness or darkness.

How this sensor works
The LDR is made of a light-sensitive material whose resistance decreases as light intensity increases, and increases in darkness. By connecting it in a circuit with a fixed resistor (voltage divider), the changing resistance can be read as a changing voltage, which a microcontroller converts into a light level reading.
